This program focuses on potential
new developments in the treatment of
cancer, such as gene therapy, customized treatment,
stem cell research, and
the generation of new drugs. We explore the significance
of clinical
trials and talk about what's being done in the state
to connect patients
with treatment options.
The program begins with a mini-documentary profiling
cancer patient Marty
Weinberg who is involved in a clinical trial at
The Cancer Institute of New
Jersey (CINJ). This has been a 14 year journey for
Marty that has included
surgery and three clinical trials. We also talk
with Dr. Eric Rubin, who
directs the "Phase 1" group of the clinical
trials at CINJ.
